Meet Me

Born-Seattle, 1948

Lives-Boise, Idaho

Died-Not yet!

Hmm, that’s pretty short and sweet-I guess I should elaborate so you will have a better idea of which sort of crackpot you (hopefully) will choose to check out.

Schooling and Work

I had a great childhood with a loving mother and father and a younger brother-I am all that is still “here”, though. School came easy for me, including two years of college-in the late ’60s, college education was different as “stuff” was happening on campus that had little to do with real learning (I guess that is still a “thing” nowadays). As I was a math major with PE minor while having an aspiration to be a junior high school teacher and coach, things were changing in school districts so I quit at two years. I had been working in floor covering and furniture since jr. high, making good $$, so I pursued that with some interior design, sales and management for the next 40 some years. So much for the yuck (work).

My Fun (Mostly Joyous)

The Fun- my parents had me walking on trails before I turned two, fishing both fresh and salt water with a lot of camping as well. As a side note-Puget Sound was next to heaven as a place to grow and appreciate all that Mother Nature gave to us (at least in the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s). I no longer fish or shoot (now with a camera, though), and have not for soooo long.  Other passionate “play” over the years have included:

  • Basketball
  • Bowling
  • Boating
  • Hiking
  • Cards and Board Games
  • Tennis
  • Photography
  • Cooking and Baking
  • plus any other endeavor that I have forgotten.

Relationships and Lesson Learned

I have been married seven times (including a long term relationship without that “piece of paper”). Each has started and ended for its own reasons and experiences. This, too, has been highly educational. One lesson of this has been the effectiveness of “I… ” over “you…” messages. Also, the ineffectiveness of trying to communicate when angry. So much for this, now.

Boise

In 1997, after 49 years and with 3 1/2 million people in the Puget Sound region-Boise, Idaho called and I answered. I found another outdoors person’s paradise. I am still here and intend to stay. This is not the place to promote Boise, so I won’t.

I am very happily married to Cheri-we have 2 small dogs and 2 cats in our home.

I am writing this blog to share my own insights on our world as it now exists and how to find (maybe) JOY in your little corner of it-I have (is this disillusion?). I am hoping to create an online community to share our successes-hopefully NO politics-just heartfelt concepts for JOY in everyday life and maybe lose some drama.

Here’s JOY to you,

Terry
