Pets-Joy or Nuisance?

Cat or dog or ?? What do your choices include? Do you ENJOY a critter in your life? Should you ENJOY one, two or more?

If you don’t have a pet, would you ENJOY unconditional love with true affection and devotion?

Will you accept a (very) little inconvenience and expense in return for massive rewards in your life?

OK, I am a pet lover!

Oh and I realize that a pet is not JOYFUL to everyone and that’s what makes the world go ’round.

Some benefits of a fuzzy in your life are:

  • Unconditional love with true devotion
  • The JOY of observing unique personalities and methods of play
  • If you get lonely, someone to talk to (while only receiving positive feedback!)
  • A traveling companion
  • A reason (excuse?) to get off the sofa and out and about-our girl dogs LOVE camping

There have been several studies related to the sharing life with a pet that report a calming and peaceful (JOYFUL ?) experience when loved by and loving a fuzzy. My own experience includes a couple of relationships with type A personalities that had a relaxing effect with a beneficial JOY on them. Just sayin’.

Some of the inconveniences are:

  • Extra cleaning (litter box, yard, hair everywhere (maybe)
  • Maybe some worry over his or her health with (mostly) infrequent vet visits
  • Experiencing “loss”-they have a shorter life span than us
  • Finding care if you go away without “Fido”
  • Fearful behavior (hiding, barking) during loud noise events
  • Maybe some destruction of some of your stuff

Although these might be negative points to some, to a passionate pet lover they a part of the JOYOUSNESS that is shared with a furry.

Here I will leave to you the research (if needed) to decide the type of critter that you would prefer to share life with (to dangle a participle).

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION-Puppies and kitties are fun and cute, you can train them in your own manner. There are many reasons an animal will become homeless, a rescue, (my own choice for over the past 50+ years). With adopting a rescue, you will receive a furry friend with some established traits-mostly good and some that will require a little (sometimes much) retraining. The REWARDS are usually GIANT!

A quick comment, acquiring a pet is a commitment of emotions, time and expense for many years. Please don’t act impulsively.

Thank you for reading and many wishes for a JOYOUS rest of your day,
